Katowice, October 27, 2025 (AP) – During the inauguration on October 27, 2025, a letter of intent was signed concerning “cooperation in the field of economic promotion at home and abroad, and support in attracting domestic and foreign investors.” The document was signed by: Deputy Marshal of the Silesian Province Leszek Pietraszek, Mayor of Katowice Marcin Krupa, Vice-Chairman of the GZM Management Board Maciej Biskupski, President of the Management Board of KSSE S.A. Prof. Rafał Żelazny, PhD, and President of RIG Tomasz Zjawiony. The aim of the agreement is to increase cooperation between the above-mentioned entities.

- It is important for us to understand that every business makes money for society. It invests further and, thanks to these investments, continues to develop our cities, regions, and country. We understood this in Katowice a long time ago. We have transformed from an industrial city into a city of services and new technologies,” said Dr. Marcin Krupa, Mayor of Katowice.

The signatories of the letter of intent committed themselves to joint activities aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investors, organizing economic events, exchanging information relevant to the development of entrepreneurship, and creating a platform for cooperation between institution.

- In recent years, the SME sector has become a very important player in the Katowice Special Economic Zone S.A. Companies have been informed that the zone is for them, not just for large companies,” – emphasized Dr. Rafał Żelazny, Prof. UE – President of the Management Board of Katowice Special Economic Zone S.A. – Let us be aware that we are talking about investments here. I think everyone here in this room realizes that every zloty spent on investment multiplies its expenditure in the economy. I believe that investments should become a much more important component of our economic growth than they are now, which is what I wish for us, the Zone, and the entire economy.

The agreement will strengthen the position of Katowice and the entire Silesian region on the economic map of Europe, facilitate access to new markets and business partners for entrepreneurs, and increase the region's investment attractiveness. For residents, this means more jobs, new investments, and the development of urban services and infrastructure, which will result from growing economic activity in the region.
